Upcoming: SEAF 2010
22 March 2010

SEAF Logo This redesign and new blog section is going live right in the middle of a rather large and exciting project for me. I’ve been collaborating with sculptor Cyra Hobson since November to develop a very interesting project for this year’s Seattle Erotic Arts Festival called “Behind Closed Doors.” We are combining a three-dimensional dollhouse with a series of photographs inside. The dollhouse is all but complete, and we are up to our ears in wonderful photo shoots to fill the windows.

This is my first mixed media project, and my first time as an invited artist to the festival. Cyra and I are both incredibly excited about the opportunity to develop such a complex piece, and to have such an amazing venue in which to show it.

The photography sessions have been different from the usual studio shoot. I have been going into people’s homes and shooting whatever they consider sensual, whether that is clothed or nude, kinky or vanilla, suggestive or explicit. At first, I wanted a complete and evenly-spaced representation of the sexual rainbow, but 1) there are simply not enough windows in any house for that, and 2) I really wanted to dig into honest moments from the lives of those around me. The results have been delightful.

Be sure to check out SEAF from April 30 – May 2 at Seattle Center Exhibition Hall. Check out the programming schedule, and consider buying tickets for one or all of the events. Last year’s entertainment was exhilarating, the art was provocative, and the attendees were absolutely gorgeous. Tickets are available through Brown Paper Tickets.
